A special shout out to April!

Very exciting news, Crocs! One of our housekeepers and a member of the Chartwells’ team, April Conkwright, has been awarded the RAVE (Recognize, Appreciate, Value and Encourage) trophy! In the words of Mr. Dave Darby, “This award is given from the Admissions Department to a staff or faculty member that goes above and beyond the call of duty to ‘wow’ a community member (e.g., assistance provided to a colleague, department, student, visiting family, etc.).”

April, from the bottom of our ‘crocodilish’ hearts, the G-Easters thank you for going above and beyond to help make Ridley feel just like home. Thank you!

Crocs making the world a happier place!

After a bit of box building and shopping, the girls of G-East managed to put together 34 Christmas boxes for this holiday season! Combining those 34 boxes with all of the other boxes collected from other schools and churches, the total number of boxes being given as gifts to children in West Africa, the Ukraine and Haiti is 5027. Thank you for all of your hard work, ladies! Your thoughtfulness and charity has helped once again to make this world a happier place. 🙂

Congrats to G-East’s very own Kennedy Stock for her outstanding performance at this year’s OFSAA race! Her participation in this annual cross country running event was featured in the Ridley Newsletter. Well done, Kennedy! Your house is so proud of you!

In that same vein, Abbey Bowley brought home the H. C. Griffith Trophy for G-East last week after racing in Ridley’s 126th cross country run. Kennedy Stock also won the house a trophy for the junior division, the G. F. Leigh Trophy. Congrats, ladies!

Lest We Forget…

In honour of the soldiers who fought for their country and to those who lost their lives during battle, the grade 10s put on a spectacular and deeply moving presentation for this year’s Remembrance Day. The audience sat in silent awe as they watched their grade 10 peers jump between performing poetic skits and describing the lives of past Ridleians who served in World War I and II. Thank you for all of the hard work that went into this heartfelt and powerful production, grade 10s!

Ridley’s students and staff then gathered in the Memorial Chapel later on in the week to collectively pay homage to war veterans during the Upper School’s annual Remembrance Day Service. Ridley’s cadets and choir helped to make the service truly remarkable.

Thank you to all who had a hand in aiding our school community to come together and remember why it is so important that we do not forget how lucky we are to live in peaceful country.

Runners on your mark, get set, go!

On Monday, November 5th, the Crocs were out in full force as they raced towards the finish line of Upper School’s cross country run! The girls’ displays of friendship for one another and G-East pride was visible to all who attended the event, most notable in the way they chanted for their fellow housemates to “Keep running! Don’t stop! You can do it!” and by the house colours they wore.

A special shout out to our seasoned runner Miss Kennedy Stock who, upon returning from OFSA, came in second during her heat at the cross country run here at Ridley. Awesome job, Kennedy! We’re all so proud of you! 🙂

Way to go, ladies! You all ran a great race and have brought us one step closer to taking home the Bradley Shield!
